....to my website which explains what I am doing as MP for Neath.
I was inspired to get involved in politics by the struggle against bigotry and discrimination under apartheid in South Africa. It was that commitment to social justice and equality that inspired me to join the Labour Party, to run for Parliament, and to work for Labour in government.
The key to this website is dialogue and I will be keeping you up to date on my activities and you can get in touch with me by clicking here.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Growing up as the son of courageous anti-apartheid South Africans, Peter Hain was first in the public eye in aged fifteen, reading at the funeral of an anti-apartheid friend hanged in Pretoria. Living in exile in Britain during his late teens, he led campaigns to disrupt whites-only South African sports tours. His political notoriety led to two extraordinary Old Bailey trials and a letter bomb.
Featuring Iraq, Mugabe, Europe, Gibraltar, blood diamonds, working with MI5 and MI6, delivering justice for workers robbed of their pensions and compensation for sick miners, Hain gives a fascinating insight into life near the top of the Blair and Brown governments.

After the decision today of the Northern Ireland Attorney General to withdraw his pending prosecution of the former Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Peter Hain MP and the Managing Director of Biteback Publishing Iain Dale, they said in a joint statement:
'This is a victory for freedom of speech. In September we will be publishing the paperback edition of Outside In without changing in any way the section that gave offence to some in the Northern Ireland judiciary.
'We were fully prepared to take the case all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary and our lawyers were confident of the outcome. But, after the astonishing decision to bring the prosecution, we are delighted that commonsense has prevailed and that taxpayers have been saved a great deal of money in legal fees.

Neath MP Peter Hain has warned the public not to be carried away with the comparatively small headline fall of unemployment. ‘The Governments economic strategy for dealing with the recession is not working and has resulted in a double dip recession, which does nothing for the unemployed of Neath,’ he says.
The long term unemployment figures are up, and have been rising since last year, making it twice as high as twelve months ago. Mr Hain said: ‘The outlook for people in Neath is still grim and in some instances getting much worse. Long term unemployment has risen from 160 in April 2011 to 320 in April 2012 and the prospects of finding a job are not good with fourteen people chasing every vacancy. Permanent jobs are being substituted by a rise in temporary and part time jobs.’ he said.

Don't be put off voting [tomorrow/today] by the rain Neath MP and Shadow welsh Secretary Peter Hain has appealed to citizens.
'The weather could be bad, but there is a great opportunity to tell the Prime Minister the Government must change course. The best way of doing that is by voting Labour,' he said in a last minute appeal on twitter and Facebook.
